As my good friend Gary often says, "another year shot to hell."
The breathless sprint down the homestretch concluded Sunday with Jim Wiesner winning a photofinish with Rich Dingle. Mike "Slim" McCravens finished a half-length back to lock down third place, holding off a charging Rick Tulloch (134 points in the most unpredictable week of the season!) by little more than a nose hair.
I've enjoyed all your nice cash for these few months, but as promised, it's time to empty the coffers and send a few of you lucky winners off into the teeth of everyone's favorite month, January.
Prizes to:
Jim: 225, and nice lady from the balcony
Rich: 125, and a player to be named later
Mike: 25, and a compensatory pick in the fifth round
Also a pat on the back to Mr. Tulloch, the (obvious) winner of Week 17.
On to the Roo Award, the dubious honor bestowed on the player(s) who were so bad they were good. A couple posts ago I indicated that I thought no one would catch Bill G in his freefall, but I failed to notice that Dean/Marlene had also not missed picks in any week this season and were right there with him. In fact, Dean & Marlene have successfully defended their "title" - this is their second consecutive Roo award - and will be rewarded with $25, some horse apples, and this green thing I found in the back of the fridge. If these keeps up I'm going to have to rename this trophy.
